Delivery Options

Different access challenges call for different delivery solutions

When it comes to delivering wood pellet and wood chip, access is everything!

1 Small blower lorry

Whatever fuel store set up you have in place, we can work with you to find the best delivery arrangements for your needs.

Where access is limited we can often deliver wood pellet in our smaller blower lorries.

With an overall width of just 2.55 metres which is 8 feet 4 inches, this vehicle can get through most gateways. Consideration also needs to be given to wing mirror clearance. Height is 3.66 metres or 12 feet.

Turning circle and room to manoevre also needs to be taken into account which is all covered in our pre-delivery check list that your Customer Account Manager will be happy to take you through.

2 Large blower lorry

With less restrictions on access we can deliver wood pellet and wood chip in our larger blower lorries.

The vehicle’s width is 2.55 metres which is 8 feet 4 inches Consideration also needs to be given to wing mirror clearance. Its height is 4.06 metres which is 13 foot 4 inches.

Turning circle and room to manoevre also needs to be taken into account which is all covered in our pre-delivery check list that your Customer Account Manager will be happy to take you through.

3 Tipped deliveries

With a tipped delivery the vehicle lifts its back hydraulically to empty out the wood fuel.

This can be one of the quickest delivery methods to deploy.

Depending on hopper and/or fuel store access we sometimes tip straight into fuel stores – over access grids if they’re below ground.

4 Walking floor deliveries

Where access permits a walking floor delivery can be the best and quickest option.

This is ideal for situations where the customer wants the wood fuel dropped directly onto a grid over the top of an underground fuel store, or directly into a building for storage.

The load of fuel is “walked off” the back of the vehicle by the hydraulic floor.

5 Tipped into a trough fed auger

In this fuel store arrangement the wood chip is being tipped into a trough fed auger.

The wood chip is driven down into the fuel store by the auger inside the trough.

Although useful where space is limited, this method is more time-consuming for everyone involved as the pace of tipping is limited by the capacity of the trough and speed that the auger can drive the wood chip forwards.

6 Palletised deliveries

Wood pellet by the pallet is a very convenient delivery method that many of our customers prefer.

Each pallet of pellet comprises 98 bags each weighing 10kg for ease of handling. 15kg bags are also available.

For the most difficult access, they’re manageable enough to hand carry from drop off point into the fuel store and biomass boiler’s hopper.

7 Tractor and trailer deliveries

Depending on the individual access, location and proximity to our local depot, tractor and trailer delivery can often be deployed.

Some customers have their own tractor units available for them to use on site.

For some customers we deliver by scissor lift trailers where the fuel store point of entry is raised.

We can also supply hook lift bin deliveries on a replace and replenish basis.

8 Top loader fuel store deliveries

With a top-loader fuel store we can provide several delivery solutions.

If access is unrestricted in height then we can tip straight into the fuel store.

Walking floor deliveries are also possible and the preferred option for many customers with this type of arrangement because the complete load of biomass wood fuel is deposited swiftly straight to where it’s required.
