Woodfuel Supply

Using specialist machinery and its own storage depots throughout the South West England, Forest Fuels supplies woodchip, wood pellets and logs to the correct specification for all models of commercial wood-fired boilers.

Forest Fuels ltd has wood fuel depots sited strategically across the South West England region (link to map), in order to supply wood chip from local sources to it's customers across the South West.

Wood chip and log production

Automatic wood-fired boilers are usually installed with dedicated woodfuel stores to ensure they can operate over long periods without manual handling or maintenance. It is therefore essential that woodchip or logs supplied comply with individual boiler specifications for particle size, moisture content and without contaminants. Our production process is carefully managed and delivered to ensure a consistently high quality of woodchip of firewood logd is maintained.

The wood chip specifications Forest Fuels can supply are: G30, G50 and G100 at moisture contents below 35%. Forest Fuels’ team of experts can advise on woodfuel specifications to ensure optimum efficiency and uninterrupted operation of boilers.

Wood Pellet Supply

Forest Fuels Ltd has teamed up with Balcas to supply 'brites' wood pellets. 'brites' wood pellets are produced in the UK and delivered by Forest Fuels direct to our customers in the South West. The delivered wood pellets prices are: £225 + VAT for 1 tonne of 10kg bags or £190 per tonne + VAT for bulk blown deliveries of a minimum order of 5 tonnes. Download our price sheet.

Delivery

Deliveries of wood chip are generally undertaken by tipping bulker lorries of between 25 - 35 cubic metres. Larger volumes of up to 70 cubic metres can be organised, as can small volumes such as tractor trailer deliveries of 12 cubic metres or dumpy bag deliveries. A number of our customers take delivery of solid timber and Forest Fuels ltd chips on site direct into the wood chip store.

Hardwood firewood deliveries are undertaken locally by pickup and tipping trailer. For bulk or large deliveries of logs we can deliver by tractor and tipping trailer, tipped lorry loads or dumpy bags craned off a lorry.

Wood pellet deliveries can be via blown delivery, 1 tonne dumpy bags or 10kg bags.

Blown Deliveries

Forest Fuels ltd owns and operates a lorry and bin with the capacity to blow wood chip into overground stores. The blower can transport wood chip along a pipe up to 5 metres high and 10 metres distance. (Manufactures video demo)

Demonstrations

Forest Fuels operates its own woodchip boiler and customers are welcome to visit our offices in North Devon to view a demonstration and hear of its reliability. Alternatively we are happy to arrange for visits to other boiler locations.

Supply Contracts

Forest Fuels offers supply contracts that guarantee quantities and qualities of woodchip for fuel which are tailored to meet their customers’ needs. A long term contract provides the opportunity for planning and has the benefit of ensuring a secure supply at the most advantageous price. Typically supply options include:

  • Long term (3-5 years) woodfuel supply contract
  • Fuel conversion (woodchipping) service from customer’s own timber supplies
  • Long term fuel management contracts where Forest Fuels takes responsibility for continuity of fuel supply but where required, incorporates a customer’s own timber
  • ‘One off’ or emergency woodchip or supply can also be accommodated
  • Fuel can be supplied by the kWh, cubic metre or tonne.

To ensure a prompt and continual supply from local woodland resources, Forest Fuels delivers woodchip across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire from depots around the region.

Carbon neutral and sustainable local supply

The raw material to produce woodchip for fuel and hardwood firewood is plentiful in the UK. The Forestry Commission calculates the annual sustainable yield of timber from UK forests by area; only 500,000 tonnes of the annual potential of 1.1m tonnes in the south west is currently cut. Forest Fuels ltd can provide long-term, guaranteed supplies of woodfuel and has established links with the Forestry Commission and many private estates, sawmills, joinery organisations and other growers across the south west.
