Forest Fuels recruiting an apprentice.
Forest Fuels is looking for a new member of their forestry team to start as an apprentice at the end of this year. Forest Fuels Ltd is working with The Forestry Commission, in partnership with The Silvanus Trust, Bicton College to provide this opportunity to start in the Forestry Industry.
The apprenticeship programme will combine learning in the workplace with practical training resulting in a nationally recognised NVQ qualification (Level 2 Forestry) along with national certificates of competency in topics such as chainsaw operation and pesticide application. The courses will be delivered by Bicton College, which has a long-established record of training in forestry and countryside skills.
Two of the apprenticeship vacancies will be hosted by the Forestry Commission in the Blackdown Hills as part of the Neroche Scheme, one with woodfuel specialists Forest Fuels and two other posts with leading Forestry companies. Apprentices will put training into practice and learn specialist forestry skills, including wood fuel processing, and machine harvest operations.
Funding for this programme has been secured from the Forestry Commission and ‘Making it Local’, a locally managed grant scheme in the Blackdown Hills and East Devon area, which incorporates funding from the EU, DEFRA, SWRDA and LEADER.
Recruitment onto the programme will begin on 16th October, so if you are interested get in touch now with Jane Hart at The Silvanus Trust, on 01752 846400 or email jane.hart@silvanus.org.uk
