Affordable Renewable Heating
Woodfuel heating is now accessible and affordable renewable energy solution for everyone.
Wood fuelled biomass has been successfully utilised in European countries such as Austria, Germany and Sweden for decades. As woodfuel heating increases in popularity in the UK and the contractor market becomes more competitive biomass boilers and associated technologies also become more affordable. This exciting industry continues to innovate with new boilers and new fuel transfer systems being designed for a broader range of audiences all the time.
HSCO's
Forest Fuels offers its own renewable heat solution through Heat Supply Contracts (HSCo’s), enabling you to benefit from woodfuel heating without any capital expenditure.
Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
The RHI has changed the landscape of renewable heating in the UK. It is a world first financial incentive scheme for renewable heat generation. It is designed to increase the uptake of renewable heat technologies and help the UK reduce carbon emissions and hit its EU renewable energy targets. The Government’s target is that 15 per cent of total UK energy consumption will be generated from renewable sources by 2020.
The RHI will provide incentive payments to eligible generators of renewable heat for commercial, industrial, not for profit and public sector purposes.
How is it operated?
The RHI scheme is managed by Ofgem on behalf of the Government. Eligible biomass schemes can meter the heat that they produce and will be paid on a p/kWh basis at an agreed tariff.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible new wood fuel biomass boilers must have been commissioned after the 15 July 2009. A number of other criteria stipulate the eligibility of different systems and provide band widths of funding available.
